5 séries para maratonar e aprender inglês no feriadão

Hello, hello, hello! How have you been, my dear readers?

I hope you and your beloved ones have all been safe and sound. #amen

I’ve been sexier and happier than ever, especially because there’s a holiday coming. YASSS, gurl! Days OFF!

Speaking of which, I’ve decided to create a list of series and sitcoms to binge watch during the Independence Day holiday in Brazil.

The rule is simple: really worth watching fast episodes and great ways to practice English. Let’s start, shall we?

Top 5 – Binge-watching shows on holiday

1) Derry Girls

Ok, it’s time to practice your best Northern Irish accent with the Derry Girls. The plot is all about the teen years of a group of friends in Derry, Northern Ireland, back in the 90’s. Fast stories, light episodes and loads of fun moments alongside a great soundtrack in the adventures of Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle, and James. It also highlights some aspects of the war their country was facing at that time. Watch it on Netflix.

2) All Stars Drag Race 6

Okuuuur, All Stars, let’s get sickening! Yasss, mama! All Stars 6 could never be out of my list. This week is the season finale, so what a better time to ru-watch the episodes and gag with all the iconic lip-syncs by the best drag queens in America?! Well, kitty girl, I will no longer give any tea and spoilers about this season, but you shall watch it, bitch! Watch it on WOW Presents Plus.

3) It’s a Sin

Are you ready to cry? As a person living with HIV myself, “It’s a Sin” hit me really hard! Well, this British television drama miniseries is a five-part series set from 1981 to 1991 in London, United Kingdom. It portrays the lives of a group of gay men and their friends during the HIV/AIDS crisis and you just can’t believe how similar it may be with the Covid-19 pandemic. Well, life changing and definitely worth watching. And the title of the show comes from the iconic song by the British duo Pet Shop Boys. Get it on HBO Max.

4) Modern Love

Just get your popcorn and tune in this romantic comedy anthology. Modern Love is an American television series based on the weekly column of the same name published by The New York Times. There are many actors you’ll recognize playing touching and funny stories, but I just love Anne Hathaway’s episode. It depicts the ups and downs of a bipolar woman. BTW, you can read the actual stories on NYT, click here to read the previously mentioned episode story Take me as I am, Whoever I am. Watch it on Amazon Prime.

5)  Fleabag

“A free-spirited and sexually active but angry and confused young woman in London.” The description of the main character here could be me or you, my dear reader. Right?! Well, Fleabag is a British comedy-drama created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and there’s a dry sense of humor with tons of meme lines in the plot. Performed by Phoebe herself, the protagonist frequently breaks the storyline in order to deliver discussion, internal monologues, and comments to the audience. You might recognize yourself there. Watch it on Amazon Prime.

That’s all, dreamers!

Enjoy your holiday!
